The handoff and the equipment behind it
A circuit terminates on something. The demarcation point, the handoff type, the router or firewall behind it and whether the existing edge hardware can carry the new rate are all part of the scope rather than a surprise on turn-up day — a gigabit circuit into an appliance that inspects traffic at a fraction of that is a common and expensive way to buy bandwidth you cannot use.

These are the questions that get you a real number — most people can answer them from memory.
- The full street address of every location, including suite or floor — serviceability is confirmed per address, and two suites in one building can answer differently
- What is installed there today: the service type, the current rate, who provides it and when the term ends
- The capacity you are sizing for, and what is driving it — headcount, hosted voice, video, VDI, backup windows, or traffic your own customers generate
- Whether the site needs static IP space, and roughly how much — a single address, a small block, or a routed allocation
- Whether this is the site's only circuit or one of two — a second path for failover is scoped differently from a primary
- Who owns the building and whether a riser, conduit or landlord approval is likely to be involved — this is the usual cause of a long install
- Your target term and turn-up date, and whether edge equipment (router, firewall, switching) is in scope for the same quote
Dedicated access versus shared business broadband
The comparison people expect is a price one, and it is the least useful. A shared business broadband service will almost always carry a lower monthly figure than a dedicated circuit at the same headline speed, because it is a different product sold on a different promise: best-effort capacity, contended with other subscribers, asymmetric by design, and with a support path built for a service that can be restored by replacing a modem. Comparing the two on speed alone compares a committed rate with a maximum one.

The honest way to choose is by consequence. If the worst outcome of a slow afternoon is that a file takes longer to open, shared broadband is a reasonable purchase and we will say so. If the worst outcome is that a shift cannot dispatch, a clinic cannot pull an image, a contact centre drops calls or a customer-facing system goes dark, then the variable you are actually buying is predictability, and that is what the dedicated product sells. Most multi-site organizations end up with both — dedicated at the locations that carry the business, broadband or fixed wireless as the second path at the rest.
Contention is also worth understanding rather than fearing. A shared service is not oversold in bad faith; it is engineered on the statistical certainty that not everyone transmits at once. That assumption holds beautifully for browsing and badly for the traffic patterns of a modern business, where a cloud backup, a firmware push and a full-office video call all decide to happen in the same fifteen minutes. Dedicated capacity is the decision to stop relying on that assumption.

Can you tell me right now whether my address is serviceable?
Not from a web page, and any tool that claims to is guessing. Coverage is nationwide and confirmed per location at quote — what is deliverable to a specific address depends on which carriers reach that building, so we check it per site rather than publishing a map. Send the addresses and we run the checks with the carriers that reach them; you get an answer per location, including where the honest answer is "not at that speed, but here is what is deliverable".
How fast can you get a quote back?
How quickly a quote comes back depends on how many addresses have to be checked and which carriers serve them; a single site is usually straightforward, and a multi-site scope moves at the pace of the slowest address. We tell you where each location stands rather than holding the whole quote for the last one.
What speed do we actually need?
That is a scoping question and it is worth twenty minutes rather than a guess. The inputs are headcount and what those people run, the applications that cannot tolerate contention (hosted voice, video, VDI, remote desktop), anything your own customers reach from outside, and the backup or replication windows that have to finish overnight. What service commitments come with the circuit?
Service commitments are backed by the underlying carrier's published service terms, which are provided with your quote rather than summarized here. We do not publish an uptime or latency figure of our own, because the commitment belongs to the provider delivering the circuit and it differs by product and by address. What we will do is put the relevant terms in front of you with the quote, so the comparison between two options is a real one.
Can you quote the router, firewall and switching too?
Yes, and it is usually worth doing on the same order — a circuit is only as useful as the edge behind it, and the most common disappointment on turn-up day is a firewall that cannot inspect at the new rate. Edge equipment is quoted through our distribution network against the design. TAA (FAR 52.225-5) and NDAA §889 screening is performed on every hardware line, before the quote goes out.
