What's the difference between E-Rate Category 1 and Category 2?

Category 1 funds the connection to the building — internet access and data-transmission services. Category 2 funds the internal network: switches, routers, wireless access points, structured cabling and related installation, drawn against a per-student budget that runs on multi-year cycles. Uniqcli sources Category 2-eligible equipment and builds the bill of materials to your Form 470/471 timeline; your district files with USAC and holds the funding relationship.

Do you screen school security equipment against the FCC covered list?

Yes, as part of sourcing. The FCC's covered list, published under the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Act, bars universal-service-funded purchases of listed equipment, and several states restrict covered surveillance manufacturers for any public purchase. NDAA Section 889 adds its own screen for districts spending federal grant money. We check cameras, networking and radios against these lists line by line before quoting and document the result.

Can we purchase through a cooperative contract or state agreement?

Districts commonly satisfy competitive-purchasing rules through cooperative programs or state master agreements.
