A watch floor is a room before it is a capability
The hardest part of standing up an operations center is not choosing the software — it is that the room arrives as six unrelated purchases from six lead times. The video wall comes from an AV integrator, the workstations from an IT contract, the KVM from a specialist, the racks and power from a facilities line, and the desks from somewhere else entirely. Each is correct on its own and the room does not work, because nobody owned the interfaces: the wall controller that will not drive that resolution, the KVM that does not carry that display's refresh rate, the circuit that cannot support the position count. We quote the equipment as one bill of materials, integrate and rack what can be integrated before delivery, and hand over a room that is ready for the software and the people your program brings to it.
What has to be specified together
Each layer constrains the next, which is why they are quoted as one package rather than four.
The wall
Fine-pitch LED or tiled LCD, sized against viewing distance and the content the room actually displays — dashboards read differently from full-motion video.
Operator positions
Workstation-class machines with the graphics output the position needs, multi-monitor arrays, and the desk-side power and data to support them.
Distribution
KVM switching and extension so an operator reaches multiple systems — including separated networks — from one position without a path between them.
Racks and power
Cabinets, containment, structured cabling, PDUs and UPS sized against the load the room draws when every position is occupied.
Equipment lines across the whole room
Priced lines from the hub catalog, quoted against a room design your program supplies. Naming a manufacturer describes the market, not a Uniqcli partnership or endorsement.
Video wall displays
Absen and Leyard fine-pitch LED for the wall itself, and Samsung, LG and ViewSonic panels where tiled LCD or large-format displays suit the room and the budget. Quoted with mounting and the controller the layout requires.
Analyst workstations
Lenovo workstation and desktop lines specified for the display output each position needs, with the monitor arrays quoted alongside them. Imaged to your build and asset-tagged before delivery.
KVM and extension
Switching, consoles and extenders so one position reaches several systems. Where separated networks meet a single desk, the NIAP Peripheral Sharing Device protection profile is the fact worth asking about, and we confirm it model by model rather than by category.
Racks, cabling and power
Legrand and Panduit rack, containment and structured cabling with deep priced coverage — the layer that decides whether the room is maintainable in year three — plus Eaton and Vertiv UPS and PDU lines sized against the full-occupancy load rather than the day-one position count. Rack integration and labeling are scoped on the same order.
What a room design has to settle first
- Operator position count at full occupancy, not at go-live
- Viewing distance from the furthest position, which sets the wall pixel pitch
- What the wall actually shows — dashboards, video, or both at once
- How many separate systems or networks each position must reach
- Available power and cooling in the room, and the circuit layout
- Whether the room is new construction, a refit, or equipment into an existing space
Operations center questions
Do you run or staff a SOC?
No. This is an equipping engagement: we supply and integrate the room's hardware — displays, workstations, KVM, racks and power. We do not operate a watch floor, employ analysts, or provide monitoring, and we do not have a facility of our own to offer.
How do you size a video wall?
From viewing distance and content. The distance from the furthest operator position sets the usable pixel pitch, and what the wall displays sets the resolution and the controller — a wall of dashboards has very different requirements from one carrying full-motion video. Both are decided before a panel is chosen.
Can one operator reach two separated networks?
That is what a secure KVM is for, and the relevant fact is whether a specific model states NIAP Peripheral Sharing Device protection profile compliance — several rows we carry do. We confirm it model by model on the quote rather than claiming it across a category, and whether your design needs one is a scoping decision for your program.
Can the equipment be integrated before delivery?
Yes, and it materially shortens the installation. Rack integration, imaging, firmware baselining, labeling and kitting can be scoped on the same order, so what arrives on site is assembled and labeled rather than palletised.
