Overview

Server licensing and cloud subscriptions are two different purchases with one brand name

Almost every Microsoft licensing conversation starts by conflating two things that have separate channels, separate counting models and separate renewal mechanics: on-premises server licensing with its client access licenses and Software Assurance, and cloud subscriptions bought against a tenant. Uniqcli sells the first. We quote server licenses, CALs and Software Assurance renewals through authorized US distribution, and we quote the Surface and server hardware alongside them. We are not a cloud solution provider, we do not stand up or administer tenants, and we do not carry Microsoft 365 or Azure subscriptions.

Scope

Exactly where the line is

On our side of it: server licenses, the client access licenses that go with them, Software Assurance renewals on existing agreements, and the hardware — Surface devices, notebooks, tablets and the servers those licenses run on. All of it sourced through authorized US distribution, quoted per license with the counting model stated.

On the other side of it: anything counted against a tenant. Microsoft 365, Azure consumption, cloud-only subscriptions and the provisioning, migration and administration work around them. That is a cloud solution provider relationship, and we do not hold one. We will say so at the first email rather than at the third.

The reason this matters for a government buyer is that the two halves get written into one requirement all the time, and a supplier who quotes both without distinguishing them produces a document that cannot be filled. If your requirement spans the line, we will quote our half and tell you plainly which lines we cannot supply.

Questions

Microsoft licensing questions

Can you sell us Microsoft 365 or Azure?

No. Those are tenant subscriptions bought through a cloud solution provider relationship, and Uniqcli does not hold one. We carry on-premises server licensing, client access licenses, Software Assurance and the hardware. We would rather tell you that immediately than route a requirement we cannot fill.

Do you provision or administer our tenant?

No. We provision nothing in a Microsoft tenant, administer no directory, and perform no migration into or out of one. Our scope is the license, the hardware, and the staging work that makes the hardware deployment-ready.

User CALs or device CALs?

It depends on the ratio between people and devices. Shift-work sites, shared workstations and lab environments often favour device licensing; mobile users with several devices each favour user licensing. Send the headcount and the device count and the arithmetic answers itself — we state which model the quote assumes.

Can you align a purchase to our existing agreement?

Yes, where the program allows it. Send the agreement type and the renewal date and we will quote to co-terminate so your estate keeps one renewal calendar.

Does buying licenses through you change Microsoft support?

No. Support is delivered under the publisher's own terms at the level your agreement carries. We source the entitlement through authorized US distribution and record what is on the line; we do not intermediate the support relationship.
