The interesting problems are solved months before the trucks arrive
A relocation is not a technical challenge so much as an inventory-and-labeling one. What goes in which rack, at which unit height, on which circuit, cabled to which port, in what order, with which spares on hand when a rail kit turns out not to fit or a cable is four feet short. Every one of those is answerable in advance, and every one of them is a purchasable line. We supply the new racking, containment, power distribution, cabling and optics, plus the replacement gear that a relocation always turns out to need, staged and crated in the sequence the installation will follow.
What gets decided before anything moves
Each of these is a document, and each of them is also a bill of materials.
- Rack map: what lands where, at which unit height, in the destination hall
- Circuit plan: which PDU, which receptacle, matched to the equipment's plugs
- Cable schedule: length, type and route, so nothing is cut on the night
- Optics list: transceiver types per link, with the spares on the same order
- Spares kit: rails, cage nuts, cables, optics — the failures that stall a move
- Crate and label plan, sequenced to the installation order rather than to the pack list
The physical layer of the destination hall
Deep, verified catalog lines. Naming a manufacturer describes the market, not a Uniqcli partnership or endorsement.
Racks and containment
Legrand and Panduit racks, cabinets, containment and blanking, quoted to the destination elevation so the airflow plan and the rack map are the same document.
Power distribution
Eaton and Vertiv PDUs and UPS with the receptacle mix matched to the equipment being moved — the most common install-night failure is a plug that does not fit the strip.
Cabling, patching and optics
Panduit cable management and patch panels, plus the transceiver and direct-attach estate the new links need. Quoted with spares, because a missing optic stops a link and a link stops a rack.
Replacement equipment
Allied Telesis switching and Lenovo servers for the gear that will not survive the move or has no place in the new design — identified before the relocation, not during it.
Who does what on the night
Uniqcli supplies and stages equipment. We do not operate a data center, do not perform the physical move, and do not provide the riggers, the trucks or the on-site labor that lifts equipment out of one hall and into another. Those come from your facilities organization or a specialist relocation firm.
What we can do is capability-level and useful: configuration and imaging of replacement gear, racking and labeling to your elevation, kitting and crating in installation order, and delivery sequenced to the move calendar so nothing arrives three weeks early into a hall that is not ready for it.
Country of origin is recorded per line and NDAA §889 screening runs before the quote goes out, on new equipment and replacements alike.
Relocation questions
Do you move the equipment?
No. The physical move — rigging, transport, lifting and on-site labor — is executed by your facilities team or a specialist relocation firm. We supply and stage the new racking, power, cabling, optics and replacement equipment, sequenced to their schedule.
How far ahead should the hardware be ordered?
Far enough that the long-lead lines are not on the critical path — which for racking, power distribution and some optics can be months rather than weeks. Send the rack map early and we will flag which lines drive the date.
What should be in the spares kit?
Rails, cage nuts, patch cables in the lengths your schedule uses, transceivers matching each link type, and power cords. They are individually cheap and collectively the difference between finishing a move on schedule and stopping at two in the morning.
