Hardware Warranty & Support Renewals

Support contracts expire quietly and get discovered during an outage. We track coverage across the installed base and quote the renewal or the uplift before the gap opens — the manufacturer performs the support, we source and place the contract.

Scope
Warranty extensions, support uplifts, multi-year renewals
What we quote
Server, storage, network and endpoint support entitlements
Boundary
The manufacturer performs the support — we source the contract
Overview

Nobody notices coverage lapsing until the part is already needed

A support contract is the only thing you buy hoping never to use, which is exactly why it goes unmanaged. The warranty that shipped with a server three years ago ended on a date nobody diarised; the storage array was uplifted to next-business-day for a project that finished; the switch stack at a remote site is on a return-to-depot term that made sense when the site had a spare. None of that surfaces until a drive fails and someone discovers the entitlement expired eleven months ago. Uniqcli tracks coverage against the installed base for the equipment you buy through us — serial, product, current entitlement and expiry — and quotes the renewal or the uplift ahead of the window rather than after the incident. The manufacturer performs the support; what we do is make sure the contract behind it is current, at the response level the site actually justifies.

The decision

What a support contract actually buys, and when to stop buying it

Support tiers differ on three axes that matter to a buyer: how fast a replacement part arrives, whether an engineer comes with it, and whether the failed unit has to go back. A next-business-day on-site term and a return-to-depot term can differ by a factor of several on price and by a week on recovery. The right answer is site-specific — a remote location with no hands on the ground justifies a different term from a headquarters rack with a spares shelf.

The harder call is when renewing stops making sense. Late in a platform's life, a multi-year support extension can approach the cost of replacement hardware that is faster, denser and covered by a fresh warranty. We put both numbers in front of you rather than quoting the renewal because it is the line you asked for — and where the vendor has published an end-of-support date, that date is the constraint, not our opinion.

One thing we do not do: we are not the support organization. The entitlement is performed by the manufacturer under its own terms. We do not operate a help desk, we hold no SLA of our own, and we never present a manufacturer's response commitment as ours.

How you buy it

From installed base to current coverage

  • Send a requirement, an installed-base export or a spreadsheet of part numbers
  • Off-catalog lines are sourced by RFQ through authorized US distribution
  • TAA (FAR 52.225-5) and NDAA §889 screening runs before the quote goes out
  • Quotes, orders, approvals and documents live in your buyer portal
  • GPC / P-Card accepted up to your cardholder threshold; POs otherwise
  • Stock and final total confirmed before you commit; free US shipping over $2,500
Questions

Support renewal questions

Can you renew support on hardware we did not buy from you?

Frequently, yes — support entitlements are generally sold against a serial rather than against the original reseller. Send the serial list and the current entitlement level and we will come back with what is renewable, what has passed the manufacturer's reinstatement window, and what is only replaceable at this point.

What happens if coverage has already lapsed?

Some manufacturers allow reinstatement, usually with an inspection or a back-dated premium; others close the door permanently once a unit has been uncovered for a set period. We tell you which case a given serial falls into rather than quoting a renewal that will not be honoured. Where reinstatement is not available, the honest options are self-spare or replacement.

Do you provide the support yourselves?

No. The manufacturer performs it under its own published terms and response commitments. We source and place the contract and keep the dates visible. We do not operate a help desk, a NOC or a depot, and we never restate a manufacturer's SLA as a Uniqcli commitment.

How do you track expiry across a large estate?

From the entitlement records for equipment purchased through us, plus whatever installed-base export you can provide for the rest. It is a working register, not a live telemetry feed — we are reading contracts and serials, not monitoring your devices.

Send a serial list and we will tell you what is covered

An installed-base export or a spreadsheet of serials is enough. We come back with current entitlement, expiry and the renewal or uplift options per site.
