Managed Detection & Response Subscriptions

We are not the analyst desk. We quote and source the vendor's MDR subscription through authorized US distribution, and deliver the endpoints, firewalls and sensors already enrolled so the vendor's team sees telemetry on day one.

Category
Vendor-operated detection and response, sold as a subscription
What we quote
The vendor subscription per endpoint, plus the sensors that feed it
Deployment
Endpoints imaged and enrolled before delivery, so telemetry starts on day one

Overview

Somebody else's analysts, our purchase order

MDR is a subscription in which the software vendor operates the detection and response function on your behalf — their analysts, their playbooks, their escalation path, twenty-four hours a day. It is a legitimate answer to a real staffing problem, and it is bought as a license. Uniqcli's role in that transaction is precise and worth stating up front: we quote and source the vendor's MDR subscription through authorized US distribution, and we deploy the sensors that feed it. We do not operate a security operations center, we do not employ analysts, and we do not monitor anything on your behalf. What we can do that a license reseller alone cannot is make the service useful immediately — endpoints imaged and enrolled, firewalls staged and reporting, so the vendor's team has full telemetry from the first day of the term rather than the sixth week.

How it is bought

What is in the subscription, and what is not

MDR is priced per protected endpoint per year, usually as a tier above the endpoint subscription rather than as a standalone product, with server seats priced separately from workstations. Read the service description carefully before comparing prices: vendors differ substantially on what their analysts are actually authorized to do. Some notify and advise; some will isolate a host without waiting for you; some will take response actions across the estate. Those are very different services at similar-looking price points, and the difference matters most at three in the morning.

The other clause worth reading is coverage scope. An MDR tier attached to the endpoint agent sees endpoints. Extending it across firewall, mail and identity telemetry is usually an additional entitlement, and it is the difference between a service that can see the attack path and one that sees its last step. We quote the sensor licenses alongside the subscription so the scope is visible on one page.

Subscriptions are sourced through authorized US distribution rather than held on a shelf, so stock language does not apply to them; what matters is the term, the seat band and the co-termination date.

Limits

Stated plainly, because this category invites confusion

Uniqcli does not operate a security operations center, does not employ security analysts, and does not monitor customer environments. Any MDR service referenced on this page is operated by the software vendor that publishes it, under their service description and their terms — not ours. What we sell is the license and the deployment work.

That boundary also shapes what we will not do: we will not act as your escalation contact, we will not hold response authority in your environment, and we will not describe a resold subscription as a Uniqcli service. If you need a provider who operates the function under their own name, that is an MSP relationship, and it is a different procurement from this one.

Questions

MDR procurement questions

Do you provide MDR services?

No. We quote and source MDR subscriptions from the vendors that operate them, and we deploy the sensors those services depend on. The monitoring, the analysts and the response actions are the vendor's, under their service description. We have no security operations center and no analyst team.

What is the difference between MDR and EDR?

EDR is the technology on the endpoint; MDR is a subscription in which the vendor's staff operate that technology for you, around the clock. Commercially, MDR is usually a tier layered on top of the endpoint license, so it is quoted per endpoint against the same term.

What should we check in the service description?

What the analysts are authorized to do without asking — notify only, isolate a host, or take broader response actions — and what telemetry is in scope. Two subscriptions at similar prices can differ enormously on both. We will point at the clauses; the decision about what authority you are comfortable delegating is yours.

How quickly does coverage actually start?

As soon as the sensors are reporting, which in practice is limited by deployment rather than by the license. That is precisely why we quote enrollment with the subscription: endpoints delivered imaged and enrolled mean the service is watching a complete estate on day one rather than a growing fraction of it.

Can we buy MDR without replacing our current endpoint agent?

Usually not — most MDR services are tied to that vendor's own agent, because their analysts work in that vendor's console. Where an estate is standardized on a different platform, the honest answer is that MDR from another vendor means an agent migration, and we will say so rather than pretending the two are independent purchases.
