Overview

Reliable LiFePO4 Battery Backup Offers Longer Life and Less Weight than Lead Acid Battery

This Tripp Lite SmartPro® UPS system features a state-of-the-art lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) internal battery with longer life, more cycles and faster recharge. It more than doubles the service life of an equivalent lead acid battery, and offers up to three times more charge/discharge cycles. It recharges to 100-percent capacity in less than two hours, making the lithium UPS system an ideal backup in case of power outage. The LiFePO4 battery weighs 60-percent less than an equivalent lead acid battery, which reduces the overall UPS weight.

120-Volt Battery Backup Keeps Equipment Operating Through Short Power Failures The SMART3000RM2UL provides up to 9.5 minutes (half load) and 3.5 minutes (full load) of battery backup, as well as AC power protection, for critical server, network and telecom equipment. In case of a prolonged blackout, the single-phase UPS system gives you enough time to save important data and perform an orderly system shutdown. With a 2250W capacity (3000VA), the line-interactive UPS system with automatic voltage regulation (AVR) maintains regulated 120V nominal output over an input range of 83V-145V without using battery power.

Protect Your Mission-Critical Rack Equipment Plug your equipment into the eight NEMA 5-15/20R and one NEMA L5-30R outlets. Two 5-15/20R outlets are switchable, allowing you to power connected equipment on and off remotely to reset or reboot connected equipment or to shed less significant loads to extend battery runtime for more critical equipment. All nine outlets are protected by 570-joule network-grade surge protection to fight off damaging power surges and spikes.

High Efficiency Operation Helps the Environment and Your Cash Flow Operating with a high 98% line-mode efficiency, this 3kVA UPS system can save BTU heat output and energy costs.

Advanced Communications Ports Connect to Any Workstation or Server USB and DB9 ports (cables are included) enable data-saving unattended shutdown when used with Tripp Lite's free downloadable PowerAlert® software. Capabilities include monitoring of equipment load level, self-test data and utility power conditions. The Emergency Power Off (EPO) interface offers options for instantaneous power-off of the UPS system and connected equipment in case of fire or other facility emergency. The SMART3000RM2UL is compatible with Tripp Lite network management cards, such as WEBCARDLX, for detailed monitoring of UPS and site power conditions.

Multi-Function LCD and Audible Alarms Keep You Informed The front-panel LCD information and configuration screen displays detailed UPS and site power status and operating data, as well as input and output voltage, operating mode, alarm function and additional options. An alarm sounds to warn you of power failure, low battery, overload, UPS fault and remote shutdown conditions. More from the Manufacturer

Why is this UPS a Good Investment?

The success of any organization depends on critical information systems like servers and network hardware. If your critical systems don't have reliable power, employees can't work, communications go down, automated systems malfunction and productivity grinds to a halt. Between severe weather, the aging electrical grid and unavoidable hazards lurking inside your own walls, your servers and network hardware are under constant attack from power problems. Even a brief loss of power or a momentary surge can damage your equipment, corrupt your data, bring down your network and hurt your bottom line.

The potential costs of downtime are alarming. Surveyed averages range from $1,167 per minute for mid-size businesses (IDC) to $7,908 per minute for larger operations (Ponemon Institute). For a tiny fraction of these costs, you can prevent damage, downtime and data loss by installing this SmartPro® UPS system. It conditions incoming AC power to protect your equipment, provides enough battery backup to outlast most outages and allows critical systems to shut down gracefully to prevent data loss and corruption during extended blackouts.

This UPS system also has a lithium-ion battery. The lithium-ion battery has a longer service life and recharges faster than a comparable lead-acid battery.

Common Applications

Protect Servers and Network Hardware

Application Servers, Storage Servers, Database Servers, File Servers, Virtualization Servers, Proxy Servers, Web Servers, Media Servers,

VoIP Servers, Network-Attached Storage, Network Switches, PoE Switches, Firewalls, Network Appliances, Bridges, Gateways, Routers

Protect Equipment with Active PFC Power Supplies

Active PFC power supplies found in many devices require pure sine wave power.

Pure Sine Wave Output

When operating from battery power, a UPS system generates the waveform of its AC output. Many UPS systems generate PWM sine wave power, an approximation of the pure sine wave power you receive from your electrical utility. Although PWM sine wave power is compatible with most equipment, pure sine wave power is required by some devices -- such as computers with active PFC power supplies -- and prevents others from overheating, malfunctioning or failing prematurely. This UPS system generates pure sine wave power for superior compatibility with active PFC power supplies and other sensitive equipment.

Lithium-Ion Battery Backup

Lithium-Ion Battery: This UPS system uses a lithium-iron-phosphate (LiFePO4) internal battery, a special type of lithium-ion battery optimized for safety and durability in high-power applications. It typically doubles the service life of an equivalent lead-acid battery, offers up to three times more charge/discharge cycles, weighs 60% less and recharges to 100% capacity in less than two hours.

Half-Load Runtime: This UPS system will support a 50% load (1125W) for up to 9.5 minutes.

Hot-Swappable Battery: The internal battery can be replaced without turning off the UPS system and disrupting the operation of connected equipment.

Advanced AVR and Surge/Noise Protection

In locations with chronic voltage problems, frequent switching to battery drains reserve power and shortens battery life. This UPS system has a feature called automatic voltage regulation (AVR) that solves the problem. The UPS detects when input voltage is out of bounds and corrects it without using the battery.

All Tripp Lite by Eaton UPS systems also include built-in surge protection and noise filtering to shield your equipment from destructive transient voltages and electromagnetic (EMI/RFI) line noise.

Flexible Management Options

There are several ways to manage this UPS system:

Use the multifunction LCD screen for comprehensive local management.

Use the USB port with your computer's built-in power management features.

Use the USB or serial port with your computer and Tripp Lite's PowerAlert® software. PowerAlert provides enhanced features like automatic file saves, event notification, logging, advanced device control and an SNMP agent that supports centralized management. Select UPS models include a convenient CD-ROM, or you can download the latest version of PowerAlert for free at Tripp Lite's website.

Install an optional network card to enable standalone network management via SNMP, Web, SSH or telnet. The network card has an Ethernet port and embedded interface, allowing you to access advanced monitoring, control and notification features without directly connecting the UPS system to a computer. The network card also supports connecting one or more optional sensors for remote temperature, humidity and contact closure monitoring.

This UPS system also has two switched outlet banks, allowing you to reboot locked devices remotely or turn off nonessential loads during extended outages to provide additional runtime.

Multifunction LCD Screen

The illuminated LCD provides easy access to detailed UPS settings and information. The LCD shows a variety of helpful data, including input/output voltage, output load percentage, output load wattage, power status, battery status, AVR status, battery capacity, estimated backup runtime remaining and daily power consumption. If you decide to install the UPS system in a tower configuration, you can rotate the LCD for optimal viewing.

Eco-Friendly Design

High Efficiency: This UPS system saves energy, produces less heat, shrinks your carbon footprint and reduces annual operating costs.

Long-Life Battery: This UPS systems has a lithium-ion battery that offers significantly longer service life than an equivalent lead-acid battery, allowing it to remain in service instead of going to a landfill.

RoHS Compliance: This UPS system complies with the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) Directive, limiting the use of hazardous substances in manufacturing.
