Two USB 3.0 ports support data transfer rates up to 5 Gbps, which is 10 times faster than USB 2.0 and recommended for high-bandwidth USB 3.0 devices, such as security cameras and high-resolution webcams. Five USB 2.0 ports transfer data at speeds up to 480 Mbps. All seven ports are backward compatible with previous USB generations, so you can continue using older peripherals while getting high-speed performance from new devices.

Charge a Device Even When Your Computer or Laptop Is Not in Use

The first USB 3.0 port, which is labeled with a charge symbol, can charge a mobile device, such as a smartphone or tablet, when the source device is in Suspend mode only. A blue LED indicates the hub is receiving sufficient power to support all connected devices.
