FAQ
How long will this UPS power my system when the power goes out?
Runtimes of any UPS will vary based on the amount of power required by your connected devices.
When power is restored, will the UPS automatically switch off from the battery backup?
Yes, when adequate power is restored to the UPS and is within the operating voltage range of the UPS, it will revert to passing utility power to connected electronics.
My UPS is on, but my power button is blinking and beeping.
The battery needs to be connected first. Please read the user manual for instructions on connecting the battery.
Can I plug the UPS into an extension cord, or does it have to be plugged into a wall outlet?
To get the best power available, your UPS should be plugged directly into the wall outlet. Plugging your UPS into a surge protector may cause the UPS to go to the battery often when it usually should remain offline.
How long will this product power my system when the power goes out?
The runtime of any battery backup will vary based on the amount of power required by the devices plugged into the battery backup outlets. In the PowerChute Software, you can see 'Estimated Battery Time' based on the power-draw of your connected devices.
What do I do if my battery backup does not provide the expected backup time?
Note that batteries require recharging after extended outages. Batteries can wear faster when put into service without proper recharging or when operated at elevated temperatures. If the battery is near the end of its service life, consider replacing the battery.
Is this UPS battery user-replaceable?
Yes, the UPS is compatible with a dedicated user-replaceable battery, and the APC replacement battery cartridge helps restore UPS performance to the original specifications.
Will this UPS provide continuous power in the case of a power outage?
This Back-UPS has a typical transfer time of 6ms to 10ms to switch to battery power when the main power goes out. The transfer time is fast enough that most devices will not experience a power drop when the UPS transitions to battery power.
