The SmartRack 42U NEMA 12 (IP54) Standard-Depth Rack Enclosure Cabinet protects sensitive electronic equipment from harsh conditions that would overwhelm a typical rack enclosure, including falling dirt, dust, drips and splashes. It is ideal for use in factories, construction areas, utility plants, warehouses and other areas high in moisture, dust and debris. The enclosure has a NEMA 12 protection rating, which is equivalent to IP54. That means it can protect your equipment from falling dirt, dust, drips, splashes and accidental contact with personnel. The front and rear doors have ventilating louvers instead of open mesh. They also have a sealing gasket around the door frames. On the front door there are built-in dust filters. The filters are removable and they can be replaced with standard furnace filters - they're simple, inexpensive and effective. To compensate for the added air resistance of the filters, there are 12 large, high performance fans to the rear door. The fans pull air through the enclosure, from front to rear. The roof of the enclosure is sealed with a cap that keeps drips and falling dirt from getting inside the enclosure. Since the doors and top are sealed, cable access is provided through 6 cable ports - 2 in the roof, 2 below the rear door, and 2 in the unit floor. They allow cables to pass through, but they block the area around the cables maintaining the NEMA 12 protection. The enclosure may be subjected to extreme vibrations and movements produced by vehicles and machinery. The heavy-duty steel frame supports up to 3000 pounds. The large-diameter industrial casters also support up to 3000 pounds, which means you can move the enclosure fully loaded. This is useful where you can install all your equipment in a clean environment, close the enclosure and wheel it to the dirty environment with all your equipment already protected. After the enclosure is in place, the levelers allow you to compensate for minor floor variations and make sure everything is stable. The SR42UBEIS is the perfect rack enclosure solution for locations like factories, power stations, construction areas, shipping facilities, warehouses, processing plants, transport hubs and other similar harsh working environments where data center and IT applications are needed. The gasket-sealed door frames and top cover prevent moisture and dust particles from damaging sensitive equipment. Both the front and rear doors are louvered to restrict the flow of airborne contaminants. On the front door of the SR42UBEIS are built-in dust filters that can be easily removed and replaced with standard furnace filters for inexpensive and effective preventative maintenance. To compensate for the added air resistance of the louvered doors and air-filters, there are 12 large, high performance fans mounted on the rear door to pull air from the front to rear of the enclosure.

The SR42UBEIS is designed to provide a safe, secure installation solution for mission-critical rackmount equipment. It contains locking front and rear doors and half-sized side panels (2 per side) that also lock to prevent unauthorized access to installed equipment while still making it easy for IT personnel to perform inspections, maintenance and equipment replacement.

All components of the SR42UBEIS are grounded to the enclosure frame. Front and rear threaded grounding points are provided for connection to the facility earth ground.

Simple Configuration, Vertical Mounting Rails, Sealed Top Panel and Cable Ports

The SR42UBEIS is compatible with all standard 19-inch rack equipment. The SR42UBEIS uses front and rear pairs of vertical rails with square mounting holes. The rails are adjustable in quarter-inch increments to accommodate equipment depths from 4 to 37 inches. Adjustment is quick and convenient—simply unscrew the rails, slide them to the desired depth and restore the screws. An easy-view depth index ensures consistent rail placement without requiring time-consuming measurements. The enclosure's heavy-duty steel construction and large-diameter industrial casters can support a maximum 3,000 pounds rolling load so that all of the equipment can first be installed and configured in a clean environment.

The SR42UBEIS supports toolless button-mount 0U installation of compatible PDUs and cable managers with two adjustable vertical mounting rails. Each rail can accommodate two vertical PDUs or cable managers side by side, for a total of four units per enclosure. These vertical mounting rails make it easier to route power and cabling to installed rack equipment. They also reduce cord and cable clutter that could block airflow through the enclosure.

For maximum protection from the elements, the SR42UBEIS's roof enclosure is sealed with a cap that restricts drips and falling dirt from getting inside. Since the doors and top are sealed, cable access is provided through 6 cable ports - 2 on the roof and 2 below the rear door - to facilitate cable access while still maintaining its NEMA-12 protection rating.
