The P440-89FM DB9 to RJ45 Modular Serial Adapter (M/F) is designed for connecting terminals, serial printers, modems, POS and other serial devices to your network via twisted-pair Cat5e/6 cabling. This saves you time and money by eliminating the need to upgrade your existing hardware.
The adapter features a male DB9 serial connector with color-coded twisted-pair wires on one side and an RJ45 female connector on the other, allowing you to create customized RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485 connections. You can connect dumb desktop terminals to a central patch or directly to an MUX. Slotted, knurled thumbscrews provide a quick, secure attachment to your device. Color-coded wiring simplifies troubleshooting.

Connect a Serial Device to Your Network Over Cat5e/6 Cable
Use Tripp Lite’s DB9 to RJ45 Modular Serial Adapter to connect a serial device, such a terminal, serial printer, modem or POS system, to a network over twisted-pair Cat5e/6 cable. The P440-89FM has a male DB9 connector on one end and a female RJ45 connector on the other. By making DB9 and RJ45 connections compatible, this adapter eliminates the need to upgrade existing hardware.
Create Custom Serial Cable Connections
With the P440-89FM adapter, you can create a custom RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 connection. The wires are color-coded to simplify assembly and troubleshooting. After assembly, tighten the slotted knurled-head thumb screws to secure the adapter to your device’s DB9 port.
