Tripp Lite's SMART700HG medical-grade UPS system provides dependable battery backup and is fully compliant with UL 60601-1 regulations when plugged into a hospital-grade outlet, making it ideal for use in patient-care vicinities. The 700VA/450W capacity provides up to 42 minutes of runtime for a half load, or 18 minutes for a full load so you can work through short power failures and perform an orderly system shutdown in a prolonged blackout. Built-in line-interactive voltage regulation corrects brownouts as low as 81V and overvoltages as high as 143V to normal 120V nominal output, without drawing battery power. The SMART700HG's built-in isolation transformer with Faraday shield offers full isolation and removes common mode noise while maintaining full AC surge suppression in all modes. This UPS system features four NEMA 5-15R-HG hospital-grade outlets and has a hospital-grade NEMA 5-15P-HG plug with a 6 ft. cord for flexibility in placement. All four outlets provide both backup protection and surge protection, rated to 480 joules. The SMART700HG also features diagnostic LEDs, as well as a USB port and a DB9 serial port that work with Tripp Lite's free downloadable PowerAlert software for safe, unattended system shutdown and file saves in the event of a prolonged power failure.

Application Usage

This UPS contains a lead acid battery designed to be connected continuously to an AC power source, except during brief power outages. It is not intended for frequent charge/discharge cycles, such as mobile cart applications where the UPS is often disconnected from the power source. Using the SMART700HG in this type of application will void the battery warranty. For mobile applications, Tripp Lite recommends the SMART700HGL with lithium iron phosphate (LiFePo4) battery.

Reliable Battery Backup Supports Your Equipment

UPS battery backup support allows you to work through short power failures and provides sufficient time to save files and perform an orderly shutdown in case of a prolonged blackout. The SMART700HG’s internal battery provides 42 minutes of battery support for a half load (225 watts) and 18 minutes of support for a full load (450 watts). Dual 10A resettable circuit breakers protect the UPS from being overloaded. This UPS also features a Power Sensitivity Adjustment that lets you increase the system’s tolerance to waveform distortions in the AC input. In areas with poor utility power or where the UPS system’s source power comes from a generator, this keeps the UPS from switching to battery too frequently, draining its battery reserves.

Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR)

AVR protects your equipment from incremental hardware damage, data loss and performance problems caused by low-voltage conditions (brownouts) and overvoltages. The SMART700HG corrects brownouts as low as 81V and overvoltages as high as 143V back to 120V without drawing on the battery backup power needed to support your equipment during a blackout.

AC Line Surge Protection

A sudden power surge or spike on an AC line can damage or destroy electronic components and wipe out irreplaceable data. The SMART700HG has a 480-joule surge suppression rating to protect connected components from the harmful effects of power surges.

Built-In Isolation Transformer for Higher Degree of Safety

Various electrical and radio sources can cause disruptive interference on the AC line, which can result in incremental hardware damage and data corruption. The SMART700HG has a built-in isolation transformer with a Faraday shield that offers full isolation and removes common mode noise while maintaining full surge protection in all modes less than 100 microamps. It filters out electromagnetic and radio frequency interference so that it won’t affect your equipment.

Diagnostic LEDs and Audible Alarm

The SMART700HG has five front-panel LEDs to indicate line power, battery power, overload, voltage regulation and battery status. An audible alarm signals power failure, overload and low-battery conditions.

Communication Ports and Free PowerAlert® Software

The SMART700HG has a DB9 serial port and an HID-compliant USB port (cables included) to provide remote monitoring and unattended shutdown when used with Tripp Lite's free PowerAlert software (available as a download from Tripp Lite’s website).
